Roof compression systems

The ERNST compression systems offer great flexibility, precise measurements and the latest in data recording technology, in order to easily determine the structural stability of the test specimens with a high level of precision.

This roof compression system is used to test the roof structure according to test regulation FMVSS 216a and IIHS (Roof Strength Test Protocol). Due to its extremely stiff design, the test stand can be permanently erected on a stretching field or on a hall floor with appropriate dimensions. Because of this design, the maximum deformation of the system at a test force of 250 kN can be kept below one millimeter. The system can easily be moved via a mobile control element in all five axles. The pressure plate has a stroke of 1000 mm and can be adjusted continuously between 0 and 15 mm/s. In addition, the plate contains a cross laser for easy alignment of the plate in relation to the initial contact point. All axles can be adjusted electro-mechanically through precision drives. The pressure plate can be pivoted continuously by two angles ±25 degrees and ±5 degrees.
