Electric motor testing

In e-mobility, particularly in electric vehicles, high-speed electric motors are used in conjunction with corresponding power electronics and a reduction gearbox.

In the development of these future drive systems, E motor test beds play a crucial role in determining efficiency tests, map recordings, dynamic tracking, endurance and thermal testing.

ERNST has been supplying the test bed mechanics for this purpose for many years. This consists of a welded machine frame also called “base structure.”

The vibration decoupling to the building is usually done by means of air springs; the base structure itself has no natural frequency within the rotational speed range.

The shaft train is assembled according to the specific application, with several options available, such as an integrated spindle bearing position or an interlocking torsion bar.

Due to our own design and in-house manufacturing and installation, ERNST is able to deliver complete test bed mechanics as a system supplier.
